On the 19th January 2021 the squadron bid a fond farewell to its senior cadet, Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO) Harry Thomas, who turns 20 and ‘ages out’ today.
Harry has had an action packed 7 years with 858 Squadron, and it’s Officer Commanding, Flt Lt Harmer reminded everyone of Harry’s highlights with a photo slideshow during Monday’s final parade.
The highlights included attending the Air Cadet Pilot Scheme, Qualified Aerospace Instructors course, teaching at the Regional Aerospace Centre, a Germany camp and becoming a Flight Staff Cadet at RAF Wittering. Due to the level of qualification, CWO Thomas became the squadron’s subject matter expert (SME) for aviation and all things flying.
During his farewell speech, Harry thanked all the staff for their time and efforts, and spoke to the other cadets reminding them of the fantastic opportunities that the cadets offer.
All the staff and cadets wish Harry all the very best for wherever his career takes him next.
