One of the highlight events for 858 Squadron is the annual Armed Forces Day parade through Rushden. The whole Squadron paraded with the Squadron Band leading the parade for the first time in quite a few years due to the pandemic.
The weather was good encouraging a excellent turnout from the people of Rushden, who lined the entire parade route from the war memorial at the top of the high street through the centre of Rushden and past the Rushden Transport Museum. The salute was taken by Brigadier David Russell-Parsons, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Northamptonshire, with Mayor of Rushden Cllr Adrian Winkle and chairman of North Northants Council, Cllr Larry Henson.
Featured in the local press, the Northants telegraph did an photo special via social media on the parade. which can be accessed here.
The band was to all intents and purposes a new band due to the turn over of cadets since covid, and this was there first performance in public. The rest of the Squadron paraded as well making for a tremendous day out in the sunshine.
An impeccable turn out and absolutely awesome performance by all !
