Cadets under instruction

On Sunday 3rd April, a few selected Cadets and NCO’s took part in an initial training session in Archery at the Squadron Headquarters in Victoria Road, Rushden. The event was limited in numbers as it was in part a training session to access how we run Archery as a cadet event in the Drill Hall. This all took place due to our our civilian committee investing in new equipment enabling the squadron to run Archery as a main activity for all cadets to take part in.

We looked at all aspects of running the event on the squadron, primarily the safety and layout in the hall, basic setup of both the indoor range and the equipment, plus how we could potentially score an inter-flight competition. This was intended as a preparation for our multi-event Day on the 24th April in which Archery will feature. Some point in the future we hopefully will be able to run inter squadron competitions as well.

A range of cadets and NCO’s took part in the session. This took the form of initial instruction and coaching through to a dry run of the inter-flight competition which was “won” by Cdt Cpl Penny Devereux.

The next step is to organise training for all the Squadron cadets, before pitting the flights against each other to see who scores the highest!
