The Squadron recently were given a short presentation by Cadet Corporal Penny Devereux as part of Children’s Mental Health week (7-13 February). Cpl Devereux is the Squadrons cadet mental health advocate, and was delivering a package as part of the national RAFAC initiative to break down the barriers around mental health.
Part of the reason the Air Cadets exist is to give our young people the tools to support each other, and as part of that remit we put wellbeing, mental health and resilience at the forefront of the cadet experience.
The cadets are given information in knowing where to signpost, the ability to recognise and their own limitations in themselves and their peers. We also encourage the cadets to provide someone with that immediate support if required, which might not be available to them anywhere else.
